The name tells the story. Farmhouse was founded on the idea that local food tastes better, means more and is better for our communities. Farmhouse is tucked away in River Market and boasts an amazing selection of food and drink and some fantastic patio seating.
2. Westside Local
Westside Local boasts a locally sourced, fresh and creative menu, a fantastic bar, gorgeous food presentation and a relaxed but sophisticated atmosphere. A small garden on their property is where many of their vegetables, herbs, and spices are grown and their meat is sourced from The Local Pig and other local butchers.
3. Blue Bird
or almost 12 years, Blue Bird has crafted their menu with produce and meat from local, organic, all-natural family farms. They have built a strong network with local farmers and are one of our favorite go-to spots for local eating. The atmosphere at Blue Bird is quaint, rustic and inviting and they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner.
4. Justus Drugstore
Jonathan Justus has put Smithville, MO on the map as a foodie destination. His restaurant brings a blend of fine dining and sincere commitment to local farms. Justus drugstore is the perfect place for a night away, a bottle of wine and some of the most memorable food in the Midwest. Justus was recently ranked in the Farm to Table Top 25 by Opinionated about Dining.
. Café Gratitude
Café Gratitude is entirely vegan and includes several raw menu options; their 100% organic ingredients come mostly from a farm in Edgerton, Kansas. We love this upbeat Café for its commitment to the earth and to celebrating a world of plenty.
6. Room 39
Room 39 has locations in Midtown and Leawood. Founders Andrew Sloan and Ted Habiger are committed to sourcing their ingredients from local farms. The Room 39 menu changes to reflect the local fruits and vegetables that are in season. They serve from their cafe menu for lunch and dinner but the mood and cuisine become more elegant for dinner hours.
7. Webster House
The Webster House is one Kansas City’s most charming historic buildings and the dining room is filled antiques and art from local artisans and creative designers making dinner or brunch a unique and truly local experience.
8. The Local Pig (PigWich)
Pigwich was founded by the owners of The Local Pig. In the short time since opening their doors, The Local Pig has become an authority on local, farm to table meats. Pigwich takes those same meats and puts them into some delicious sandwiches, served fresh out of their humble food truck in Northeast Kansas City.
